Giorgio Griffa, born in 1936, lives in Turin and, with his long international artistic career, is considered one of the most significant painters of our time.

Characteristic of his entire body of work is the way Griffa draws lines, places dots, and writes numbers and texts on unprimed fabric, linen, or cotton, fixing the canvases directly to the wall with fine needles, without stretcher frames.
Griffa’s work is marked by great asceticism and unpretentious modesty. His abstract elements appear self-evident, resembling musical scores, and can be understood as reflections on the status of painting.

Walter Storms Galerie has represented Giorgio Griffa since 1980. In Berlin, the gallery presented his “Golden Ratio” series in 2012 at the Mies van der Rohe Haus. Griffa’s most recent retrospective took place in 2022 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
