Dana Schutz
The Department
7 NOV UNTIL 19 DEC 2026
Opening – 6 NOV 2026, 6-8 pm
Over the past twenty years, CFA has worked closely with the New York-based artist and witnessed the development of an artistic practice that has established her as one of the most fascinating figures in contemporary figurative painting.
Dana Schutz is a storyteller. Her works create a universe of turbulent characters: human abysses, escalating situations, and natural disasters collide.

Unbound by traditional notions of beauty, she has developed a masterful use of color and a flair for dramatic tension, which are evident in her complex compositions.
In addition to new paintings, the exhibition – which spans both floors of the gallery – will also feature large-format charcoal drawings.
