The exhibition encompasses two new bodies of work, Siegfried and Frank. Siegfried (2025) consists of worn car seat covers, referencing the artist’s chronic back pain from driving over 63,000 kilometers transporting art and humanitarian goods between Ukraine and Western Europe since Russia’s invasion in 2022. The piece contrasts used and unused cushions, invoking questions of labor, vulnerability, and the transformation of utilitarian objects into art. Frank (2025) captures the cracking sounds of chiropractic treatments, literal bodily traces of the artist’s labor.
Fabian’s recent work turns the logic of the readymade toward a critique of infrastructure. By repurposing the networks of the art market to support Ukrainian civil initiatives, such as the production of camouflage nets, he uses art as a vehicle for redistribution and solidarity. His ongoing video project The Path of Greatest Resistance (2022-present) documents his journeys through a war-torn landscape, merging personal endurance with collective struggle.
