Ian Kiaer
Endnote, yellow

The film introduces Ian Kiaer’s solo exhibition Endnote, yellow at Galerie Barbara Wien, where the artist brings together several works he has been developing and adjusting over a period of six years. Kiaer speaks about the nature and meaning of a model, as an architectural form, and how it influenced him when he started to think about painting and what an artwork is. Similar to connotations of the term ‘endnote’, which Kiaer often includes in his projects’ titles, models operate as additions, asides, experiments, utopian propositions, and allow for a fragmented conflation of ideas, ordered in a way that is not immediatly apparent, leaving room for adjustment and revision.
