In the third installment of WENTRUP’s Artist Interview series, Gallery Directors Rory Kirk-Duncan and Gawain von Mallinckrodt talked in a video call to American painter John McAllister live from his back garden in Florence, Massachusetts on the eve of his second solo exhibition at the gallery titled adrift gleaming serenest rustling air. They discuss his artistic practice, his new landscape paintings and the origins of the show – from his time as a photographer, as a night guard at the Met to why he prefers free-roaming bears to city life.
