Meet... Nadira Husain

Earlier this year curator Tristan Deschamps met Nadira Husain in her studio in Brandenburg for “Point de vue”, a series of short video portraits of select French visual artists and creators who have made Germany their home. Nadira Husain talks about her concept of bâtarde, which is specific to her artistic approach, as well as other key motifs and notions like that of expanded painting, the gaze, appropriation, cultures of migration and feminism. Nadira Husain’s most recent works are currently on view in her joint exhibition with Zoë Claire Miller, Bastard Magical Pragmatism at PSM, Berlin. “Point de vue” is an initiative of the Office for Visual Arts of the French Institute of Germany in cooperation with the French Ministry of Culture and the Franco-German Youth Office.
