In “GIFT,” Eliza Douglas’s first solo exhibition at CFA, the artist will present a new series of paintings that explore their own history and relevance in contemporary society. Existing in a grateful position between image and cultural object, painting is Douglas’s preferred medium. Yet the artist never slips into the nostalgic, or the cynical, but instead celebrates the vitality of painting in depicting the complexities of human experience and perception.
