‚For Sure’ is an exhibition whose form is analogous to emblem books of the 16th and 17th centuries. Following the tripartite logic of Andrea Alciato’s Emblemata — motto, image, subscript —the exhibition presents a sequence of 35 counterfactual propositions (If X were Y, would there have been any need for Z?) alongside an illustration and definition of each term. The sequence is circular. The final proposition loops back to the first, in the manner of Werner Tübke’s panorama at Bad Frankenhausen.
