The artists Gert & Uwe Tobias celebrate new contemporary mannerisms in their recent woodblock prints on canvas – a technique developed by the brothers. The range of influences on their idiosyncratic formal language spans Christian iconography, Art Nouveau symbolism, and the motives of Pop Art.
In Christian Rosa’s new series, the canvases are first put through a printing process. The artist then reacts to these typographically generated surfaces with brush, resin, and chalk.
